Drupal Camp Chicago
Raising the Bar for Midwest Drupal Camps.
For those who are following activity in the Drupal community, you would have known that there was a Drupal Camp going on in Chicago this weekend. This was an event that shouldn't be missed by any local area Drupal professionals.
Drupalcamp Chicago is an annual conference organized by The Chicago Drupal Meetup Group (CDMUG) and the Chicagoland Drupal community. The schedule is made up of submitted topics that are then voted on by the community based on interest and relevance.
This year, some of the highlighted sessions included the speakers Earl Miles (Views & Panels), Emma Jane Hogbin (Front End Drupal), John Albin (Zen Theme), George DeMet (Founder & CEO of Palantir), Michael Haggerty (Trellon). Palantir specifically represented a large number of the session speakers.
I personally spent most of the time in the Theming room and saw sessions about the Zen Theme, Grid Systems, Zen and Panels, and UX. There wasn't a session that I felt poorly about.
As a sponsor to the camp, it was a lot of fun to rub elbows with some of the other sponsors like Palantir, Trellon, Commerce Guys, and others. It is also a lot of fun to meet a number of drupal users in person and put a face to the avatar.
I think the Chicago Drupal Camp was a great event and a good stepping stone towards the Drupalcon moving to Chicago in 2011! Cheers to everyone who was involved!
