Building a foundation

and maybe even a fence for it

Believe it or not, I am a homeowner. Yes, I make the typical amount any unpaid intern does, but due to a good budget and two trips to Iraq, I was financially stable enough to buy a house four years ago and saved enough money to keep it during these slow times. Typical to any homeowner, I have a TO DO list that keeps gathering dust on the corner of my kitchen counter. Number one on the list; fix patio fence.

For the past couple of years, my small patio fence has been falling apart and every summer I tell myself and my friends that as a team we are going to build a new, better one. I have spent a lot of time looking at the fence, thinking of how great a new one is going to look and then, in a snap, its winter and who in their right mind builds a fence in the winter?

The underlining issue I have is nothing new. I want to get something accomplished, but I have not laid the ground work necessary to actually get it done. I haven’t take measurements, decide on paint or scheduled a “fence building party” in which I would solicit help with the promise of beer and scrapbooking potential.

The reason most of my home projects have not been accomplished in an efficient manner is due to my lack of structure. No matter what the project is, I walk into it as if it is completely different, causing me to spend excess time in the details, elongating the entire process.

Web Easy Media creates unique, custom made websites. Due to the different needs and wants from each client, the development team has always started each project as a separate entity. As business continues to grow and the company enters into niche markets, it recently became clear that our system of creating websites needed to be updated so we could continue surpassing customer expectations without living in our offices.

Web Easy Media decided to structuralize the process in which the company creates websites. Like home projects, each website is different, but the foundation in which the project takes shape is the same. You have to schedule appropriate time, decide on costs and material and know the overall objective of any project before you should begin.

What has been created is an effective system that has been configured to conform to any project that our company undertakes. Each division of the company, from developers to designers, has a set responsibility in the foundation stage of a website. By perfecting this system, each site has a congruent foundation in which customized work can be completed, shorting the project time while improving final results for our customers.

As spring approaches, it is time to blow off the dust on my To-Do list and set up a game plan to get my projects finished. By establishing a foundation in which to grow, regardless of the project, a person or company can accomplish more with fewer headaches.

With that in mind…anyone up for a good fence raising? You provide the labor, I’ll provide the Bud Lights, glue and glitter.
